I have listed a few of the numerous historical sites to view and
photograph on your visit to Sevastopol.
Panorama is a memorial museum that commemorates the 50th anniversary
of the first heroic defence of Sevastopol. It depicts national pride
of people of Crimea, and is located on the city’s Historical
Boulevard.
Diorama Memorial Museum depicts the actions that took place during
German assault Sevastopol that took place on the slopes of Sapun
Mountain on May 7, 1944. It is composed of the war artefacts, comprised
of guns, tanks, artillery, and other military armaments. In the
open-air pavilion, you can see replicas of the captured German weapons.
From the observation platform can see the re-creation of the fierce
battle the armed forces were engaged in to defend each square metre
of Sevastopol.
Black Sea Navy Museum is usually of great interest to foreigners.
It has numerous models of ships battle banners, armaments, documents,
photographs, and captured war relics.
Chersonessus Historical and Archaeological museum will be of considerable
interest to anyone that interested the founding of Christianity
in the Ukraine and Russia.
Sevastopol Aquarium (The A. Kovalevsky, Reserch Institute of Biology
of the Southern Seas) has twelve wall-seawater tanks that are a
home for stone crabs, bright wrasses, eelpouts, scorpion, seacocks,
and sea horses. It also houses the larger sea species such as sturgeon,
a white sturgeon, flatfish, and a big striped perch from Atlantic
Ocean.
Dolphinarium is a sea animal theatre. Children along with parents
always enjoy watching the dolphins and seals perform here.
Sevastopol Art Museum has a collection exhibits from some of the
best artists in the Ukraine. It is noteworthy that this museum is
included in the International World Reference Book published by
UNESCO in 1981
